We have grown to a group of practices which employs over four hundredand fifty people with offices in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Cambridge, Newcastle, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Dubai, and Manila.
We are currently celebrating forty years of practice with a touring exhibition starting in Edinburgh on 6th January 1996. As an introduction to this event John Richards has written a brief history to the practice entitled Themes and Variations The formation of the partnership in 1956 necessitated the need for a London base to complement the one established in Edinburgh. The London Office commenced operations in 1956 from a fine John Nash house in Park Square, Regents Park. In the early part of 1957 when I joined the active projects were New Zealand House in London, a school in Leicester and a series of support buildings forKincardine Generating Station under construction on the Firth of Forth.
