This museum has made great efforts in collecting, conserving, processing, studying and displaying cultural objects which are related to archeology, history, ethnography and natural history of Hong Kong and South China area.
The permanent exhibition occupies an exhibition area of 7,000 square metres and will showcase the cultural heritage of 6,000 years of Hong Kong history. It will be ready for opening by April 2001. Prior to the official opening, thematic exhibitions are held from time to time.
