The new museum is a museum of history, art and culture. Located in Shatin, it occupies a gross floor area of 28,500 square metres with a net exhibition area of 7,500 square metres. The museum adopts a traditional Chinese courtyard design reflecting modern construction techniques. The building will be five-storey high with Chinese style roofs and corridors.
