CLP doesn't really use oil at it's power plants.

Black Point is a gas fired plant

Castle peak is a coal fired plant

Penny's bay can use either diesel or gas (can change)

Daya Bay is a nuclear facility, which can produce capacity for HK and southern China. And the company also operates the Guandong Pumped Storage power station (Hydro-electric) which produces power which is mainly sold to Hong Kong.

The company is also looking at developing wind turbine farms offshore in local waters.

Even if something were to happen in the Middle East and the Strait of Hormuz, there is enough supply of natural gas and coal from China and Russia to keep the company on a stable footing and continuing to provide power to Hong Kong. Additionally, with their stated aim to widen their ability for production by looking at alternative energy sources (Wind, Solar, Hydro, etc) they should be well positioned in the future even if the cost of fossil resources (such as Gas and Oil) do spike, or the supply of those resoruces contract.

It's probably a solid long term investment.
