TODAY is the Fourth of July.
And you might get asked this question, as I was this morning.
Here's my response:
I am Patriotic, in the way that anyone who has an understanding of history, and the ideals which were
held by the Founders of America is patriotic.
I detest the extreme manipulation being done now these days by politicians, and hollywood film makers.
And I like even less the uninformed idiots who say: "America is the greatest country in the world,"
without understanding anything of the world and America's place in it, and what truly made America great.
Here's a wonderful rant:
The Newsroom: "America Isn't The Best" Speech
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIffq85zMI4
Aaron Sorkin, who also wrote The West Wing, wrote that for his new TV show, The Newsroom.
That rant points to the true (mostly lost) greatness of a once-truly-great country.
