URGENT APPEAL - Hong Kong Dog Rescue

To all Hong Kong's dog lovers:

I'm not sure if you if you have read Sally Andersen's recent blog posts or the April 12 SCMP story on Hong Kong Dog Rescue's current situation. If so, you will be aware that the land near Tung Chung that Hong Kong Dog Rescue had been planning to move to has turned out not to be suitable for use as a kennel.

All of their focus and efforts over the past few months have been on building a new Homing Centre there, and now they are left with nowhere to go. Swire Properties have confirmed that 30th April is the final deadline for them to leave their current Pokfulam Kennels site, which means that as from the end of this month HKDR - and that means all of the dogs - will be homeless.

They need help, and urgently. If you are thinking about adopting a dog, please come to their kennels and have a look at those that are waiting there. If you can foster until they sort a new site out (and they don't know how long that will take), please offer a temporary home to one of their dogs. If you can donate money to help them pay for private boarding, or sponsor a particular dog's boarding costs, please let them know.

Essentially, they have just two weeks to find a place for all of their dogs. Please, please HELP. Send out this message to all of your friends, work colleagues or database if you have one.

They also need a place to build their planned Homing Centre. There must be someone who knows of a suitable site, so help them get the word out across Hong Kong.

Donations/Sponsorship: http://www.hongkongdogrescue.com/public/general.php?pageId=76

For all the good Hong Kong Dog Rescue has done over the years, we as a community, should truly come to their aid in this time of upheaval.

Yes, now is the time. Two weeks to determine the future 170 abandoned dogs' lives. And oh - what can I say - they're the most beautiful, resilient dogs, despite how unfairly, selfishly, frustratingly they have been dealt in life.

Take it from me - it's something you can only understand when you see it in action.

You can't imagine the stress everyone at HKDR is being put through. The kennels are to be cleared by the end of April - and if these dogs have nowhere to go - they really are without any other options. Gone.

The future site is uncertain.

Read Sally's (founder of HKDR) latest blog on it: http://hkdr.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/mon-12th-april-starting-the-countdown/

Only good people willing to take one in or tell other people can help.

You can turn a blind eye... or you can be a good person.

It doesn't change the fact that they need you.
