Does anyone feed their dogs raw food in Hong Kong. If so where do you purchase the meat. Can the dog contract salmonella poisoning eventhough the PH of the stomach is highly acidic (less than 1)and should kill off any harmful bacteria?

many reasons. Feeding them a raw diet gives them food their bodies are designed for. That is sharp teeth, highly concentrated digestive secretions to digest raw meat and short intestines. Feeding raw ensures vitamins and minerals and vital enzymes are not depleted. Water also is retained in the food.

Butcher King in Sai Kung sells meat scraps for dogs quite cheap. I don't own a dog myself so can't tell you what they're like but there is always a sign in the window.

Most butchers in the wet markets that sell beef will gladly seel thier off cuts for a few dollars a pound. Lots of gristle etc dogs love it.

Remember dogs can get parasites from some raw meats. Be careful when buying "cheap" raw pet meats as you may not know where/what animal they come from.

Also a diet of 100% raw meat is not balanced for a dog (who are omnivores like man and not carnivores) and can lead to health problems. Wild dogs ate the offal and stomach contents of their prey, not just the meat.
