How to invest us40K?

i just cashed in a sluggish mutual fund and now have us40K which needs a good home for at least 3 years. Any suggestions? already have some chinese stocks, us stocks, mutual funds, big CDs, next year start collecting v.small usa SS money but enough to live here in mainland, maybe even HK!! still working, ex.health, have medicare, 2 great kids, now adults, me not married. Life is good i am thankful. need a direction of merit, for my money, not my life. thanks.
