We applied last year and got rejected on the basis that our helper had been with us for less than a year. Anyone apply and get rejected irrespective of that clause? Am wondering if I should still apply this year when it would have been +1 year with our helper. She is in her 40's and has a young child in the Phil. Also, have you heard of any helpers accompanying the employers out of HK but returning on their own? We may go to Europe after.

To get the visa for DH in USA is really difficult after 9/11. Even my husband's colleage to be supported by the company for training was rejected. I have my friend who is working for rich family in Hk. The employer has a house in USA. She used to go there several times as tourist, then suddenly everything changed because the US consulate asking the employer to show the proof that she was receiving according to USA acceptable salary for Domestic helper. But the boss was not giving her the proper salary so her visa was refused. After few months, my friend went back to Phils to apply as tourist and surprisingly, her tourist visa was granted w/all the support of her same employer.


I tried to apply for transit visa (Filipinos are allowed for transit visa for 8 hours, more than that, has to apply for visa) for my Panama trip, I was rejected although my boss supported me in everything, showing all her money but still refused. I was refused twice. I had bad experience in hK US consulate to apply for visa.
But you try to apply tourist visa for U.K. just provide all required documents, you apply in the morning and in the afternoon, you will get your visa. They are very polite and efficient. I have very good impression with the U.K. consulate in Hong Kong.
