Hi

Can someone please advise me or point me to a website to advise the rules and regulations re a nanny/ helper. I need to employ someone to help mind my son, but I dont want them to live inWhat is the deal?

If you don't want a live in then you can employ a real nanny to help mind you son, cost is normally $20,000 - $30,000 a month.

There maybe some locals who can do this, charges may be around the $60 - $100 a hour mark. You cannot employ an FDH as they are required to live in.

For the rules & regs applicable to FDHs you should go to the Immigration Dept site - lots of info there. But, as stated above, live-out is illegal for FDHs altho' Immigration do seem to give special dispensation in certain circumstances.
