Hiring New Helper, Contract expires for current one

My helper's contract expires towards the end of next month. We've just started to process another helper's papers, but I'm afraid she won't make it in time. My questions are:

-Can my helper stay until her visa expires?
-How long do helpers' visas usually last until?
-Does writing a letter to the immigration department really help expedite the process for the new helper?

Your present helper's visa can even be extended one more month. If you do not know how to process, you may contact the employment agency.

A letter to the immigration won't helper much on expedition. However, if you submit with a doctor's certification, it helps a lot.
