Cancel Contract that hasn't been approved
Posted by SharJen (174 days ago)
5 weeks ago we filled out the paperwork to hire a second helper. We haven't heard anything yet from immigration but we now want to cancel it. We have to put a reason for cancelation and I'm not sure what to put because I will eventually want to hire a 2nd one...just not at this moment.
Any sugestions?

If you have not yet received the VCA reference number from the IMD, then you can't do much about cancelling the contract. If you do have the VCA number, then write a letter and fax it to IMD telling them you wish to cancel the contract at this time, and you can say personal reasons, or perhaps there has been a change in the situation and for the present you do not need the second helper. Make you you put that ref. # , with everyones names on the fax.
good luck

I thought that if the contract hadn't yet been approved then it was a simple matter to advise Immigration that you wished to wothdraw - no specific reason required. I'm sure thatks what my sister did last year. Call Immigration.

I agree with greenvalleys. If you haven't got the VCA number, it means they haven't even started processing. (However, 5 weeks is a long time already, you should have received the card already, now it's just waiting for the visa).... anyways, you can definitely cancel, no permanent record or anything... just cancel, but the poor girl will have to hunt for another job again.
If you went through an agent, then you just have to tell the agent. Some costs and expenses maybe irrecoverable though.
