if it was in the past, i mean only few times when my firend first moved to hong kong and i asked her if she wants to earn extra doing some part time for my friend and she said ok and did about 3 times, each time about 3-4 hours. i want to know what she can do if she wants to do something? and also what kind of charge am i going to face? appreciate any advise!!!

If found out and convicted the maximum is HK$50,000 and 2 years in prison. All this information is available on the immigration website.

And that's only for you. For the helper it's also jail and then deportation with no prospect of future entry to HK. Of course those are the max, and the chances of getting caught are fairly slim - but it's still illegal. I know of only one case about 5 years ago involving a US citizen who got a 50K fine and a ban on employing FDHs, and the helper got 6 months and was then deported. In that case there was additional regular PT work involved as well as unapproved live-out.
