Go to the Open Play Sessons at the HKPPA (Hong Kong Playgroups ..... Association). They are in Borrett Road in an old school the green No 9 bus from outside Shanghai Tang will take you up there. You need to join about $75 then its $50 each visit. There were so many toys, painting faciities, sandpits, water toys, musical intruments. At the end the session all sits down for a story and singing. Although a lot of helpers attend I went along and as the weeks went by more Mums came along. (I also managed to find my fantastic helper through attending this group). Someone on this board will probably have the number. The open sessions are in the afternoon starting I think at 2pm ?!

Mondays are usually quieter than Thursdays and the ball court is only open on Thursdays hence there are a lot of people. You are right that no helpers are allowed. It is only for parents with their children but the parents feel more comfortable without helpers present and it is one of the few places in HK that you are not allowed to take helpers. It is good for parents to spend time with their child without a helper always in tow.

Thanks for letting us know.
I went to this playgroup a few months ago. I found it a little crowded. Is this your experience? I went on a day when the squash court wasn't available (I think they have toys and stuff in there?).
No helpers are allowed, right?

I also found this playgroup crowded, not very friendly and not many toys. Have been going to the mother and toddler group at the USRC, Gasgoine rd, jordan for the last 3 years. Open 9.30 - 11.30 tues and fri, $40 non members, $25 members inc coffee, tea, squah biscuits etc. Very friendly, run by mums with a large outdoor play area, a huge bonus in HKG.
