Are there any playgroup in Taipo
Posted by MayC (1137 days ago)
I have a 10 month old baby girl at home and would like her to join a playgroup.... (just something different for her). Do you happen to know if there's one in Taipo or somewhere in the New Territories?
Thanks.

I know Hong Lok Yuen School does a playgroup from 18mths up. You could check Earlybirds Tai Po(Hong Kong Preschool Playgroup Association), I'm not sure what age they start at. Failing that, The Little Gym does parent and baby classes and will be starting in Shatin in September. It's great fun!

Hi Applepup,
Would you happen to know the contact details for the Little Gym in Shatin?
Thanks in advance.

CPL,
I found the address of Little Gym:-
Shop Nos B215-217, Basement 2, New World Centre
18-24 Salisbury Road, Tsim Sha Tsui
, Hong Kong
852-23688777
I haven't called them yet. Their website does not mention Shatin. I assume they don't have a contact yet because they are only starting in September.

Hi MayC,
I just called them. They will open in Shatin mid September in New Town Plaza and they are now taking enrolment. It is a once a week class for about 45 minutes and it sounds fun! The classes are divided for babies up to 12 months old and then 10-19 months, which my daughter falls under.
I've put my daughter's name down already!
Thanks again.

Hi CPL, I've just called them too. They are sending me information about the classes and I think I'll be joining you too in mid-September. My daughter will be one by then. I'm going for Saturday classes :-)

Hi MayC,
I hope to have the chance to meet you & your daughter as I've also signed my daughter on for Saturday classes. Although our daughters will be in different classes because my daughter is older ; )
Anyway, thanks again.

Hi CPL,
I'm taking my daughter to their free introductory class tomorrow at TST. Will let you know how it goes.
My daughter will be in the "10-19 months" class as she will be 1 y.o. in September. Hope to see you there!

Apparently they are also going to open in Central in January.

Hi CPL. I took my little girl to their introductory class at TST last Saturday. I decided not to enrol my daughter simply because I think she's still too young. I also felt that I could teach her all the things they were doing. I found that most of the parents just attended to their kids rather than mixing around. When the 45 minutes were up, most just went home. We stayed behind a little to feed my daughter. A few mums were there but everyone just did their own thing and left. I shouldn't be too judgemental though because we only went to one class, plus my daughter was the youngest one there.
Your experience could be different because you will be starting with all the other parents, not coming in half way through the semester. It costs HK$200 to drop in so I may try dropping in again in Shatin but I don't think I'll enrol her for the full semester.
On a different note, if you would like to meet for coffee, feel free to email me on: xpatinhk@hotmail.com. I work full time but free on Saturdays.

I took my then 4 and a half mth old to the new world centre little gym and found she benefitted greatly from the experience. I have made two good friends from there and my little girl started crawling just before she turned 6 mths and has so much confidence. She was also the youngest in the class. I highly recommend it! I have just moved to PFL so will wait for the Jan classes to open!
