Is there anyone who can recommend a place (or a few places) I can have my kids get a start on learning English phonics?

Hi Mike 8888
What sort of English Phonics? Letterland?

one of the kids is 3 years old, one is 5 years old, and another is 9 years old. I have heard of jolly phonics and letterland, but actually don't know anything about different phonics curriculums... what are the main ones? And how do they differ? So has anyone tried any? just wondering why it matters how old the kids are or the type of phonics method? as long as the kids learn it, i only care about the results. any suggestions?

I know there's a few phonics teachers offering one to one / groups private sessions. They charge high but excellent results.
Age does matter when learning phonics! The younger the better. The best is 3 while starting schooling. Good memories. Fast learners. Good responses.

I thought the kids learn that at kindie? Could be good to check out kindies that offer that for your 3 year old.
If you still need a tutor, a friend of mine's teaching it privately. Whereabouts in HK are you? I haven't asked her but if you're interested, do send me a private message with your details and I can forward to her.

Hi Mike,
I've been speaking to some local kindies about phonics. My little girl will be going to kindie next year so I've been asking. Anyway, I found that many of them offer English phonics. You can also do some summer courses in English phonics - by that I mean 8 classes over 2 months for less than HK$1000. Check out Greenfield Kindergarden. They have these for children between the age of 3-8 years old.

Hi all,
Just thought i'd add, most of the schools don't have a native English teacher to teach phonics, so the lessons can be boring and the sounds taught are wrong not to mention they teach the wrong words for each letter sound.
I'm speaking from exp. as i have been teaching phonics in schools and privately for almost 6 years. I'm British and teach my own style based upon letterland and jolly phonics.
