Informal playgroup for 10 month old girl on the Peak

Hi everybody,

We have just moved to Hong Kong and I have a little girl that is almost 10 months old. I would love to find some friends for both her and myself. We will be moving to the Peak in October, on Mount Kellett Road.

I have an almost 10 month old daughter as well. We've been in Hong Kong for just over 2 months - if you want to get together for a playdate or coffee let me know. We live in Repulse Bay.

I also have a 10-month-old (though a boy not a girl). We just moved to Parkview last week and would love to join a playgroup. We're very close to Repulse Bay and I guess not too far from the Peak either (maybe 10 or so minutes).

Have you ladies arranged anything yet?

Hi you two,

Would something tuesday or wednesday work? I was thinking of a baby playroom in a community centre in Happy Valley, that is great for babies that are mobile but not quite adept at walking yet.

I have one other mother with a 10 month old girl interested as well.

Wednesday afternoon would work best for me next week, say about 3.30pm. Could possibly do Tuesday afternoon about the same time if that works better for you guys?

What with nap times (rather erratic) and mealtimes, our schedule is tight these days, but generally most days from 11am to 1.30pm, we'd be available, and then in the afternoon from 3.30pm to 5pm.

I don't know anything about the Community Centre at Happy Valley... can you explain what it is exactly? and where it is?

Hello,

Wednesday afternoon works out great for us. Around 3:30 or 4pm is fine. DD normally has her snack around 4 but it isn't a problem to have it outside of the house.

The community centre is on Sing Woo Road at the corner of King Kwong street. Going up Sing Woo road, it is on the right hand side. There are glass doors, which are located right next to escalators going to the wet market. I think it is across the street from a Wellcome.
We could either meet right inside the glass doors or else there is also a Starbucks not far away (just a little ways us) and we could start out there and then make our way to the Baby Playroom.

The baby playroom is fantastic, it is a foam padded room with slides and little foam rockers for kids under 4 years old. When there are the bigger kids it gets a little chaotic, but you just keep a closer eye on the little bean.

In any case, I think I will go tomorrow afternoon, and would love the company if either or both can make it. So let me know where you would like to meet and what time.

would love to have joined you for a playdate but our furniture just arrived today (we're still in the serviced apartment) and so I have the joys of much unpacking and furniture moving tomorrow.

Maybe we can arrange something for next week?

Hi,

My little one came down with an ear infection and stomach flu this past week. My ped suggested not having any playgroups for one week! So, I guess I am out for this week. She wants DD to recuperate fully before being exposed again to other babies.

Hopefully the week after? It is too unfortunate!

Okay, Ladies - we haven't done very well so far at meeting up. But we should perservere! Our babies are all about the same age (10/11mths) and we're all pretty new to Hong Kong... let's try again.

The community centre in Happy Valley sounded good by Lily's description. I'm happy to try that and I like the idea of Starbucks beforehand! Can we aim for next Wednesday?

November 1st sounds good to me as well! I can do that. I am also available on Tuesday if you want to try for the 31st of October. Are you girls dressing your little ones for Halloween? I might be lazy this year and not do anything, I get the feeling in the years to come, it will become compulsory and I am going to get as much rest before then as possible! :)

Nov 1st is okay by me. Or Tuesday 31st. I have to say I hadn't even considered halloween costumes - as you say, let's wait until it's compulsory!
