Ma On Shan

We have friends who have accepted a position in HK and have been told they must find accomodation in Ma On Shan. They have a six year old and so will apply to the ESF school but what about playgroups for their 20 month old?
What are some of the housing options there and who should I contact to go and have a snoop on their behalf? They will be here in January.

If you're living in the Ma On Shan area, you can try Box Hill Kindergarten for a bit more 'international' type of playgroup. Otherwise, Greenfield, Think International also has playgroups in Ma On Shan. You might also want to try the Playgroups in Sai Kung as it's pretty near by. Hope this helps.

Hi shimmrs,

No, Boxhill is not actually in Ma On Shan town center. It is at the ground floor level of "Vista Paradiso" which is close to Heng On station next to Ma On Shan at KCR line. The phone number is 2750-6323. The one close to Horizon Suite was Think International but it recently moved to the 2nd floor in Tolo Place. Now it's much smaller and lots of parents are complaining. In terms of the facility, Boxhill is newer, cleaner and bigger. But it seems that at Boxhill the turnover rate is a little high compared to other kindies. Now I see more younger teachers than before and last year my friend complained that they had changed the classroom teacher twice in a year. But now, for sure, Boxhill is the most popular one in Ma On Shan replacing Think. It's really big now and morning classes are likely to be full all the time. Anyway, seeing is believing. You should give them a buzz and take a look for yourself.
