Living on HK island, working in TST
Posted by mayita (369 days ago)
Hi,
My work is in Tsim Sha Tsui (Harbour City) and i'm looking for a flat (like 600 sqf min, 1 bedroom min, max 15,000 HKD/month). I was thinking of HK side, as it's easier to go out and see my friends there.
I have to be at work at 8:45 every morning, and I don't drive.
1)Any idea where i might leave
2) Was thinking of smth close to Bonham/Pok Fu Lam Road, as there is a direct bus (973) to TST. 2)A - What building or streets would you recommand in that area
2)B- Is the bus early enough to reach TST before 8:45 ? How long will it take, during morning peak hour ?
Thanks
maya
PS : I am not interested in studios, and would rather concentrate my research on HK island so pls. don't PM me with any offer that might not be relevant. Thank you

no reason why you have to live on HK island if you want to be close to work. the MTR runs until around 1am and after that it might be worth it to pay for a taxi to take you home. it would be about $100 to get from LKF or wanchai to, say... Hung Hom, Olympic, Kowloon Station... and you would probably get more for you money in those places. it would also be much faster to get to work.
think of it this way... you will be working the vast majority of the time... isn't it better to be closer to work and then to travel a couple of times per week to visit/go out with friends?

I work in Harbour City too and i defintely would not consider living on HK Side!!! I go to work everyday and only go to HK side to socialise twice a week at the most!! It makes more sense to be on kowloon side unless you have other reasons i.e close to family etc...

Actually, extended family in HK (Happy Valley and Red Hill) and also in Laguna City. All friends are on HK side.

For your budget and requirement I am not too sure whether you can find a decent flat at the area you want. If you do really want to stay on HK side, I can recommend something to you on the Eastern side of the island.
It's called Bayview Park which is located in Chai Wan. Brand new building with full size swimming pool. 5 min walk to Chai Wan MTR Station so you can basically take the MTR to go to TST all the way. For your budget you should be able to get a 850sq.ft. 2 bedroom apartment very nice brand new deco. Try to check it out. If you need more info you can contact me by msg.

Hi jeff, thanks for your mail
Actually HK island is also convenient because i'll take Cantonese classes in Wan Chai area.
Also how much will taxi cost me to go from central to Baybview park at night ?
Are you actually an agent or landlord in Bayview Park ?
Cheers.

Remember new buildings with all these great facilites are great, but it bumps up management fee's.

Taxi fare will be around $70. I am not an agent but I do know someone that I can refer you to which doesnt require any commission fee. So let me know if you are interested paying a visit
