I live in Central and am looking to move in a couple of months to somewhere a little less polluted (I realise everywhere in Hong Kong in polluted but some places are definitely worse than others). I need to be able to get away from the city in the evenings/weekends, so am happy to do a little bit of a commute. My working day normally starts pretty late anyway.
I'm considering lots of different places: Everywhere on the South side of the island, clearwater Bay, Lamma, Tai Po, Sai Kung. Everywhere seems to have advantages and disadvantages (barking dogs, transport accessibility, etc).
Does anyone have any info for me? For example, radically good/bad experience of living in those places. Also, property websites in Chinese which I can get my boyfriend to check. It'd also be good to find out if anyone knows some good agencies or landlords with properties in the areas mentioned. Agencies are kind of a last resort, but at the end of the day I don't mind paying the fees if they find me a good deal, so if anyone knows a good one...
I know people do manage to find reasonable deals, but all the information on the internet in English is very geared towards expensive properties. I know there are flats out there for normal people though! At the moment my boyfriend and I pay 6300 each for a flat with two double bedrooms, which everyone I know thinks that is a rip-off.
