TILES for renovation

Hi I am looking to renovate my apartment and am looking for tiles for the kitchen and bathroom. I have been told that the China Tiles sold in HKG (mainly Lockhart Road ,Wan chai) are poor imitations of the Italian / Spanish . Is that true ? Should I consider to get better quality China Tiles from Zhuhai instead ? Are they significantly cheaper and of better quality than the China Tiles sold in HKG ?

I think the difference between Chinese tiles sold in China vs. Hong Kong - is the price. My contractor has suggested picking some up for me from China - because of the difference in price - not because of the quality. I am not sure what the difference is - but alot of contractors are doing that now. I assume the difference is not small.
