Advice on town houses

Seems that it is a sellers market now for rental property.

My apartment has been sold and therefore have to look elsewhere. (landlord did not even discussed about rental increase)

Was toying with the idea of town-houses, those 3 floors 700 sq ft places., Tsuen Wan area or somewhere near the MTR or KCR.

Had anyone any experiences staying in these places and the problems that one faces....

they are called village houses - are you wanting just one floor of one of these or 3 floors.

They have the normal problems of living in Hk - although if you get a ground floor you may have access to a small garden, and if you get the top floor may have access to the roof - I would not rent the middle floor in one of these.

village houses, yes. My cantonese still needs some working on.

I liked the idea of the upper floor and roof top... just for the sake of a space.

I am at a 55th floor apt now. Also for the same reason of wanting sunlight and a nice view.

Now, forget the view. too expensive. Just the sunlight and fresh air will do.

So, any advice as to what to look out for ?

A village that is well organised and clean, with not too many dogs all over the place. If you have a car - car space will be important as well.(where it is - how far from your house) You may also look for houses that are not built too close together - like open a wiindow and it will touch the other house - this I feel is too close.

If you look out at Sai Kung and Clearwater Bay there are a number of nice villages - don't know about the western side of HK.

Walked about 5 agents today. Spoke to them about my needs. seems that it is possible to get something 700sqft with roof top within my budget or the so called market value....

BUT they warned me that i have to take a $3 mini bus to & fro town center.... lets see....

Well, I had settled for a low rise apt in Tsuen Wan area, where I had been for the past year.

So did you get the top floor with a roof?
