Notice Period Increase

My 2 year lease expires in January and my landlord only gave me 1 month notice that they want to increase. What is the legal period, is it not 2 months or can it be any time before the lease expires?

Look at it this way: if you do not now agree a new lease beginning after the old one ends, then you have to leave.

The creul fact is your landlord can tell you the new rent anytime, even after it expires. No prior notice is required unless it is specified in your contract.
