Where can we find a place to live with breatheable clean air and reasonably convenient transport in HK?
Find what you are after in our Hong Kong A-Z Directory

How about move to Australia or New Zealand, if clean air is a priority to you, there is no place in Hong Kong that has clean air. Its all bad I am afraid.
You will certainly get breezier locations that will offer an improvement compared to the canyoned high density apartment area's, ( e.g Sai Kung ) but then those area's won't be convenient, as easy transport = higher density of population and that in turn brings a higher concentration of road side pollution by default.
Most people here just accept that the air is bad and find more spacious area's that offer better looking country park environments to escape the city cram.
Check the EPA API figures recorded from all over HK, you soon learn that even the locations that have the lowest recorded readings, are many times higher than the worst polluted area's back home.
Good luck lol

Sai Kung, Sai Kung, Sai Kung. Great Transport..No Bid deal to the city if you're not from HK.... only 40mins..... Great Village community, Great Feel, School buses come to door. That if you can't live in NZ, Oz or the Yukon.
Good Luck

Common sense would say that the cleanest air is the South Side as its farthest away from the industrial areas of Southern China that cause most of t he pollution. And cleaner by about 30%, in my view, which is why its 30% more expensive than other areas (!)

Cruz, can you tell me where you got your "30%" better air quality figure from ?
I had a pretty comprehensive look over the HK API figures, and as far as i can see they don't publically state the API figures of the Sth side of the island. I wonder why lol.
So if there is no publically stated data on the API of the South side of the island, where did you get your data from ?
Or did you just make it up ? lol

Whats yours ?

Not as credible as yours, KC
The 30% is my own view and some 2nd-hand info from a friend who had an air purifier manufacturer over to their place and they do their own unofficial measurements of the air quality in your home - this seems to help sell their units and apparently there is pollution a drop towards the South Side homes - a double digit % fall was mentioned.
Indeed it would be quite a story if the HK API figures actually showed where the cleanest and dirtiest air in HK was in a comprehensive piece of analysis for all areas.
Seems an obvious, albeit controversial, piece of research to do. I would certainly make sure I loaded up on Sth Side property before the report came out, assuming I had the cash of course. But the political/social/economic consequences of doing such a report would be significant.
Until then, we can but speculate for ourselves....
