Adjoining units

Hi everyone,

Happy CNY to all.

I am interested in buying the apartment next door and adjoining mine. Seems that the wall separating the two is not a supporting wall (but what do i know, I am no civil/structural engineer...).

Do you know whether before destroying such a wall i would need: 1. Approval from the building department and 2. Approval from the management company of the building?

I have been told that the building department would not issue any approval notice and that any such destruction is at the risks and perils of the party doing it. My building is pretty recent: less than 10 years.

I suggest talking to an architect.

We are a contractor and making A&A work all the time such as combining Units, Install Access Stairs to the Roof etc. You need the approval from the Building Department.
