I looked around a fair bit before deciding on The Wabi Bali. The other option was Phuket but I prefer the mystique of Bali + the rental occupancies are a fair bit higher in bali because the rainy season does not affect tourism as much as in other destinations.
Elite Havens whom we have worked with for years and who have a stellar reputation on the island are project managing Wabi so that gave me added comfort - its also located minutes from the Canggu Sports facility (similar to the American Club) and includes a membership in that club.
Another reason to consider Wabi is that the developer (an aussie) has signed with us to advertise to push rentals on our site for 2 years minimum when the project is completed in about a year. Obviously if AsiaXPAT has a villa in the project we will be pushing to keep the villas full.
This has had quite a strong impact on sales with 9 of 12 now sold and the first two well along (I just arrived bali this afternoon and will be heading over to check site progress soon).
Property is not a liquid investment and requires your enthusiasm and time. If you are going to personally invest in individual properties make sure it is somewhere you know, appreciate and want to spend some time of your own. A part of the return is the experience of acquiring and managing a 'footprint' somewhere. If you have no great love for a place then don't bother, its not worth the hassle.
