how long before

Our current lease will expire on the 1st of July, we would like to move between the 1st and the 15th of June. How long before should I start looking for an apartment.

Start looking one and half month before you move, take two weeks to find a place, start making offer one month before the lease commence gives you better deal. Then take a week to get all the contract done, take another week or two to repair the defects or renovation, buy necessary appliances/furniture and open utiltiy accounts.

Too early can't get a good deal, too late is not enough time if the deal falls through for whatever reason.
