Certificate of Compliance

We found cute little older village house we would like to purchase but our solicitor has advised us against it because the is no original Certificate of Compliance shown for the house but in the past the were modification and a letter of tolerance was granted. Is there any way to get a new certificate of compliance on an older house?

I would run for the hills........my brother in law has been through that very same problem, and is not recommended. Although the purchase might proceed smoothly when it comes time to sell up could take years to unload it.
