Woke up to find the building authority had stuck a notice on my flat dr asking for the building on our rooftop to be removed/rebuilt to their specifications.
They had contacted me directly regarding this a while back but I passed them onto my landlord as surely I can't go around knocking things off a property I simply rent!!
When we first moved in we noticed the extra room-type building but the landlord said it was ok - unsure what to do now as the notice says to fix this within 30 days, but we go on holiday as of nxt wk so am worried they will start work without us being there.
I have been trying in vain to get in contact with my landlord but no joy.
Only the Landlord can help you in this case, but i am sure the Land lord is not aware about the removal order. After the 30days expire and nobody has file a application for extension, then the Governemt will seek for a Court order, after that, The Government will appoint a Government contractor to carry out the work on behalf of the Landlord. Don't worry, it takes month before anyone will do the work. In the meantime you should try hard to find your Landlord. The easiest way to find him/her by not paying the rent. You can be sure you will contact you very quick.
Maybe send a letter to the building authority with the contact details for your landlord by registered post. Then they can contact the landlord directly.
I already did that by calling them and giving two diff. people the same info just to be sure...but they keep bugging me, it's getting annoying now and I feel like shouting at someone but the reps that come around only spk basic english and I think it's not their fault so what's the point!
