Pulling out a wall

I was going to pull out an internal wall between two room. Its a thin non structural wall. I was wondering how walls are constructed. Are they brick or solid concrete. Do I really need a pro builder to pull it down. Its only about 6' * 6'.

We've just had an apartment completed renovated and apart from structural walls all the others were pulled down and rebuilt. All the contractor did was send in a couple of guys witha jackhammer and a big sledgehammer (one of his workers was a complete novice). I've heard this is generally normal for the demolishing work.

Couldn't tell you what kind of wall you have but we have seen all sorts concrete / brick and wood non structural walls guess you'll find out what yours is when you take it down!

Just an additional thought - your biggest problem may be how to disose of the construction waste after you pull the wall down if you do it yourself. All contractors have to have a construction waste account with the governnent I understand for charges related to dumping of the waste

I'm looking at doing the same thing to join two apartments together. The wall is non-structural. Anyone know if you need permission from the HK building ordinance to remove a non-structural wall? I know I need permission from the management office at my building, but from what I can tell from the HK building ordinance web-site, if it is non-structural, its ok. I tried emailling them, but they only response I got from them was a reply with a link to their web-site.....which I already have.
any advice?
