little Kowloon Italian joint

Posted by LILIHK (340 days ago)
About 4 yars ago, when my husband & I 1st visited HK, we took the ferry over to Kowloon, watched the fireworks and went to dinner at a quaint little Italian restaurant. I was totally infatuated with my companion...and so paid little attention to where we were walking. I remember walking through a pole barricade & fining myself at the end of a dead end street. There were lots of bikes & scooters parked along both sides. On the left was a little Italian joint where we ate. It had an old style lantern/lamp hanging at the front door and there were windows at our ankles with simple curtains drawn back at the center. The place was decorated in dark old rustic wood and had the classic red and white checkered table cloths on the 10 or so tables. I want to say it was named after the man or chef who opened the restaurant...but I'm not sure. The server made us believe it had been there for quite awhile. Anyone have any ideas???

Sounds like La Tarverna in Ashley Rd. Tsimshatsui.

Agree, this is the oldest Italian Restaurant in Ashley Road, more than 15 years at least.

Certainly La Taverna, I love the place. My favourite for Italian in HK.

I read it and bookmarked it for the restaurant. But you are saying you went to Hiong Kong with your husband, and ended up in TST with a "companion", with whom you were totally infatuated - so much so that you can't remember the restaurant's name! What a night that must have been!
