I'm bored of the same old restaurants in SoHo. Can anyone recommend something further afield? Perhaps something a little unusual or 'authentic'? Hawkers stalls etc.?

Try any of the hot pot places in Mongkok or Yau Mau Ti - the season for them is just about coming to an end - so move fast.

Just get to Mongkok - more food than you can shake a stick at.

Great seafood tucked away in Clearwater Bay -- turn left at the gate to the Clearwater Bay Golf Club and continue down the road until there is a tiny village down a slope on your left. There you will find the best chilli crab in the world. The best restaurant stretches out into the sea, with tables dotted along a narrow pier.

Do you like Chinese food? HKUAA (Hong Kong University Alumni Association), on 1/F (I think) of the building on the right side of 7-Eleven on D'Aguilar Street. Due to some kind of F&B regulations, it says MEMBERS ONLY (but in reality no membership required). The Sweet & Sour Pork is quite famous there I think. Almost every table will order this dish. The food is good and authentic but don't expect any nice decor.

I heard that many medical doctors like to go there.

Lei Yu Mun Gourmet Seafood Chinese style where you chose the live fish, lobster, oyster, clams etc Chinese style. Everything is life. It's old style Chinese food where only the food is good. No ambience, no decor.

And their sweet and sour pork is terrific.

We go all the way to Lamma island for something like this (but don't recall the name of the resto...)
