What are your recommendations. Not looking for that HKTA recommendation, but a real down and dirty like the old Szechuan Lau???

One of my favourites is Tanyoto, G/F, 129-135 Johnston Road, Wan Chai, Telephone : 28939268 although the hot pot might be a bit too hot for the summer.

The other one is Moon Kong Hung (actually I think this is the rough English translation) Shop 1A, 1/F, Thai Kong Building, 482 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, Telephone : 28388811

I have never been to Sze chuan lau, is it a good place to bring tourists?

Thanks Jean, unfortunately Sze Chuan Lau has gone. The place I went to is Mama Chou's in the Winner Bldg 5th Floor at top right hand side of Lan Kwai Fong. Excellent and authentic. This is definitely a tourist spot - private dinner restaurant.
