I would like to buy a good quality silk dressing gown as a gift. I was wondering where to get this from? I have already found some lovely ones at Shanghai Tang (of course!) but they are very pricey. Is there anywhere else where I could look and compare?

If you have the energy, try going to Shenzhen. You could also try Western market in Central. It will definitely be cheaper. Just to cite an example, I saw a beautiful lace fabric, price in Central market 120/yd, price in Shenzhen 65/m, don't know in Shanghai Tang, but saw it displayed in the shop. There are lots of tailors in HK, to stitch a dressing gown.
