import/export Posted by msnglnk (452 days ago) i have a friend who is in the import/export biz in shanghai. he wants to employ me as a "leison" (i know i spelled it wrong). he wants me to attract foriegn importers from US and/or canada. i am sure there is no "catch" and that the biz is lagit. but as far as i understand is he just wants me to "dive right in" and start making contacts and selling his companies products. i just don't know where to begin. Essentially they want me to do their job -free of charge- and in case I sell their goods I get a cut from the profit. If not, I get nothing. (I am based in Hong Kong) Posted by msnglnk (452 days ago) i didn't say "i don't know how to do it". i am just unfamiliar with this field. back in the US i was involved in direct marketing with companies like "amsoil", "equinox int" & "cutco". this company mostly deals in fabric sales in large quantities. and i too was told i'd be working on comission. but anyhow i was told to "go out and find buyers". its not like my friends and family are going to want or need a ton of rayon, cashmere, silk, tafeda ect... Much of the business is built on relationships and who you know. New commers are not generally welcomed easily (I am based in Hong Kong) |
