"Dependant Visa"

I will be coming to HK with my husband in a couple of months. We will both be employed by the same company.
The company has suggested they just get a work permit for my husband, and that I come in as his dependant, and then they will apply for my work permit once we arrive.
Does this sound dodgy to anyone? Are there any associated issues with permits/visas this way?

As far as i know, ur allowed to work under Dependant Visa as long as it did not state that ur not allowed to work. I think the reason they are doing that is to avoid the hassle of applying for 2 working permits.

My husband and I have independant working permits. If for example he has a WP and I have a DV, and he is "between" jobs, I don't know how it may affect my DV. May be it's irrelevant, I don't know though...

The issue raised by Nuri is interesting. Yes, a DV holder may work in his/her own right - but the DV is still linked to the sponsoring principal's EV. And if the latter is cancelled...like I said, it's an interesting issue.

When the Company obtains an employment visa for your husband to work here, you as his wife and dependant is entitled to apply for a dependant visa.
This visa permits you to work in HK. Therefore it is not necessary for the Comp to obain an employment visa for you.
