continuous non-visa re-entry into HK

i have a friend wanting to live in HK, who is willing to travel out after 90 days each time (she is french and that is the maximum stay at any one time), but what i want to know is how many times she can do this and how many days in between must there be, if any, etc?
thanks if you have any info or experience doing this.

I don't know what the legal stance is but I have been in HK on a landing visa (90 day) since 1 July 2007 and usually renewed it through day shopping trips to china. When re-entering HK on 12th Feb this year I was questioned by immigration and advised to apply for a proper visa before I attempted to return to HK again. They said that I had done nothing illegal but it was clear that I intended to live in HK, so I should get a proper visa. Thankfully my husband will have a work visa application in before I next leave HK.
