Taxi accident

A few months ago I was a back seat passenger in a taxi when the driver lost control (put his foot on the accelerator instead of break) as we were going down a steep driveway. This resulted in us hitting a couple of walls before crashing to a halt and me really hurting my back (didn't realize it until a few weeks later). I want to claim from the drivers insurance company for loss of work and daily pain/suffering and future treatment. How easy is this to do by myself without paying for a lawyer? Any advice greatly appreciated.

contact law society. tbey have lawyers who offer free 45 min advice
