Tenant rights regarding building scaffolding and construction

About a month or two into our lease, our entire building was covered in scaffolding and blanketed in shade cloth in order to be repainted. We chose our flat (and were prepared to pay the rent) for the sea view, but now there is no view whatsoever and the renovations are due to continue until May or June.

We didn't have any idea about this when we signed the lease. We heard from a friend that it is illegal for the agents not to notify tenants about future construction, but don't know how verify this before we confront our agent . Any thoughts or information out there?

Hi ferret,

We saw the property today for rent and the agent notified us that the building will soon be covered in scaffolding for a year.

I was wondering if you can share you living experience surrounded by scaffolding.

Is the material used to cover transparent? Were you still able to see outside?
Was it dark during the day time?
