Hi all,

Some advice would be great. My wife is a Chinese Mainlander living in China. I wish to file a divorce but I have no idea where to begin and how much it will cost. We do not have have any shared assets or properties, and we have no children. In fact I do not have any assets to my name at all. Also I am bankrupt, hence the divorce. Please advise. Thanks you.

If you are bankrupt you can apply for legal aid in Hk then the whole costs for divorce would be free.

Thanks for the advice. So a HK lawyers can handle the divorce between a Hong Konger (holding a British passport) and a Chinese Mainlander (who's living in China right now). Also we registered the marriage in Zhengzhou, where she is from originally.

Go to Legal Aid Department and they will assign a solicitor to help you if your assets are below certain thresholds.
