Dear all,

I've been looking through this forum- very helpful. Unfortunately I haven't been able to locate the exact info I'm looking for.

Here's my situation...

I'm working in Hong Kong as Customer Service - Vietnamese Speaking in finance company via dependent visa sponsored by my Singaporean husband who is working here in Hong Kong.

But my spouse's working permit is concluding early June 2012 and would not be able to sponsor my stay here in Hong Kong. So if my current company is willing to sponsor me, is it relatively easy to change a dependant visa over to a work visa , if yes, i would love to apply for work visa by Jan 2012?

A little background information about me:I'm holding Vietnamese passport and Singapore Permanent Residence. I have a part time degree cert from Hong Kong, higher diploma from Singapore. I just join this current jobs from early Nov 2011 with starting salary HK $17000, before that I worked as Marketing Executive for 2 year in another company also in Hong Kong.

I'm trying to figure out Is it possible for me to change from Dependent visa to Work Permit? If yes, please advice any doc. that need to submit?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks & Regards

Hi,

You can directly contact the HK immigration department and ask them. You can email them at enquiry@immd.gov.hk

They will reply you and will tell you everything.You dont have to tell them all details about yourself in email. Just ask them how can i change my status from dependent visa to work permit if my sponsor is not able to sponsor my stay here anymore? Ask them about the forms you need to submit.They'll email you everything.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I see that getting work permit in Hongkong is more difficult than getting Vietnam work permit. In Vietnam, you can contact directly to Ministry of Labor to apply work permit or contact their consultant for assistance at sales@rushvietnamvisa.com

Requirements For Foreign Citizens (Expats) to work in Vietnam

Foreigners working in Vietnam must fully meet the following conditions

1. Being full 18 years of age or older;

2. Being physically fit to work requirements;

3. Being a manager, executive or specialist;

4. Not having previous conviction for infringement of national security; not facing examination of penal liability and not serving a criminal penalty as prescribed by Vietnamese or foreign law.

5. Possessing a work permit granted by a competent Vietnamese state agency, except for cases in which a work permit is not required

Hope this usefull information,Good luck

Best regards
