Taikoo Shing has a great shopping centre - Cityplaza, but I don't see alot of expat families when I go shopping there. There is not alot of open spaces around the area (from an Aussie perspective), but certainly good for shopping convenience and proximity to Central etc.
we have found HK to not be very pram friendly. There are alot of stairs and access to places with a pram can be hard if you are on your own. You will need to get used to taking your pram on the escalators. Happy to answer any questions you may have.

take a look at Island Resort in Siu Sai Wan, no MTR but bus terminal just below the estate, with express bus straight to Wanchai, Admiralty or Central. Club house with almost everything, and huge public playgroud just downstair. There is a track right next to the estate that takes you to Big Wave Beach and Shek O, beautiful view on the way and very nice beach when you get there. Not many Xpat here but there are some. With $18K you can get 1038sq flat with 3 bedroom plus a tiny storage room in the kitchen.

Island resort offers very good facilities, security and view. Shopping and travelling are convenience. Carpark is nice too.
