Beijing -busy this weekend?

Will Beijing be crazyily busy this coming weekend (6-8 Oct) owing to the 1 Oct National holiday - or will it be "normal" - want to go & see the standard tourist sights. Would it be better to wait until later ?

I suggest you wait after the National holiday. I didn't go to Beijing though but I went to Shanghai last year and it was a ZOO. Plus my mother-in-law who lives in Shanghai always makes a point of leaving Shanghai during the national holiday because it's full of tourists from all over China....Want to avoid that!

The week is called Golden Week in China, one of three national week-long holidays in the PRC. So could be a tad busy...
