I am interested in doing a course/getting qualifications so I can teach English as a second language. Is there one qualification which is considered the "gold" standard? I would prefer to study part-time if possible. I found a TESOL course which was 2 weeks intensive training - comments on this?
Thankyou for any advice.

CELTA is usually considered the "gold" standard, however, there are many more good courses offered. Take a look at Dave's ESL Cafe for information from practising ESL teachers. www.eslcafe.com Some Internet Courses are OK, but most don't have a good reputation. Minimum standard would be at least 100 hours' class/study time with a practical (in the classroom) module as well.
