Originals or photocopies? (dependant visa)

Hi all,

I'm applying a dependant visa for my husband, and it is required that we give some supporting documents such as bank statements and family letters etc.

Do we have to give them the originals or shall we just send them the photocopies, but it is clearly stated that they want the ENVELOPES with the letters.

Would be grateful if anyone can help

Thanks in advance.

I've called their hotline more than 15 times a day for the past few days yet it is always busy and you can't get anyone to answer.

I've also tried emailing them but not received a reply yet. So wonder if someone has similar experience to help :)

They said that all documents (bank statements etc) should be in photocopies but the envelopes should be the original ones, so i photocopied the content of the letters and put them in the original envelopes

Clearly it sepends on who you talk to because we NEVER keep the envelopes. We took the original documents plus copies. They sighted the originals and kept the copies. No envelopes ever mentioned.
