The spot marks are part of the healing process and quite normal. They may take up to six months to disappear. You can put on some Vitamin E cream which prevents scarring, if you are concerned. Otherwise just let nature do its work.

Bad scarring usually occurs when the scabs are scratched and get infected - just like any other scar. If she has bad scarring when she is older, you can consider laser treatments. But as I said nature is still healing her skin so this kind of treatment - if necessary - is a long way off.

BTW, I got chickenpox as a teenager and was mortified about scars, but I don't have a single one.

If the marks are red and inflamed, they could have some infection in which case they are more likely to scar. I would recommend an antibiotic cream such as neosporin, but you will have to go to a doctor in order to get it, as this is sold "prescription only" in Hong Kong. My middle daughter was with her grandmother when she had chicken pox. When I got her at the end of the week, she had some red, infected marks which the grandmother had just been treating with salve. I put antibiotic ointment on them immediately and it cleared up the infection, but the very worst one did leave a scar on her face. (It did fade over time and is barely noticeable) I sure do wish granny had taken her to the doctor rather than just taking it for granted that there was nothing to be done!
