A swedish family of four (two kids aged 9 and 11).
We have one full day with them and we drive.
What are your thoughts?

Well, you almost certainly CAN'T drive to the Big Buddha - NOT unless you have a special permit.

Park at Stanley Plaza - buy enough at "Taste" Supermarket & get some "free" parking!
You pay NOTHING to walk around the outside & inside the BB - but if you want to climb up inside it - you need to purchase (Vegetarian) meal ticket for the restaurant close by. The food is quite bearable.
As for the kids, perhaps a trip to Tai O, and a ride on a fast speedboat into the Pearl river delta and see the houses on stilts would be the most interesting!
Buses run from Tung Chung & Sivermine Bay.
