Violation of Patient Confidentiality and Privacy

Under the new PCPD Ordinance, a medical doctor wanting to get rid of a patient can pass the patient's medical records to his solicitors without patient's consent.

There is no legal proceedings and no legal cases.

This new policy will impact many HK patients as patient data is no longer as private as we thought.

What can the patients do?

Got a clarification from a PCPD officer today. Section 60B of the ordinance does not neccessarily means that it gives doctors unlimited right to exercise their legal rights with exemption of Principle 3. It is case by case and the patient can write to PCPD.
