Shenzhen visa/USA still blacklisted?

I can't seem to find any recent news as to the ability of American passport holders to buy a border visa at Lo Wu, like in the old days. Does anyone have any recent experience or information?

Don't see things returning to the old days very soon. China instituted the "no-border visa" in retaliation for the US placing tough restrictions on Chinese citizens applying for a US visa.

It is possible to get a "rush" visa in 24 hours, but it's expensive.

In the end, I find it isn't cost effective anymore to spend the day in Shenzhen and prefer saving time and money by buying in HK.
