stokke highchair - taking off rail

At what point did you take the front rail off of the stokke highchair? Our 15mo has recently discovered that he can climb up and sometimes in. Problem is that he has a giganormous behind, and so if he is not at precisely the right angle, he gets stuck. Right now, climbing in is his absolute favorite thing to do -- he pulls it out from under the table and pushes it against something so that it is stable and then climbs on up, but then panics when he is half in, half out. I'm a bit concerned that if we take the rail off too early he'll slide off during meals.

We took the harness (we had that instead of rail) somewhere around 13-14 months for both girls. They have slid off maybe once or twice each. It's not that likely. It wasn't very traumatic either since they were hanging on to the table so the fall wasn't bad.

I'd take it off now.
